Privacy Policy

Prof Dux AR is an augmented-reality educational app from Near East University AI and IoT Research Center. It places an AI character, “Professor Dux,” in your space and lets you have a spoken conversation with him. This policy explains exactly what data is — and is not — involved. The short version: there is no account, nothing is stored on your device, and we do not track you.
No account, no profile
Prof Dux AR has no sign-up and no login. We do not ask for or collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other identifying information, and we do not build a profile of you.
What happens when you speak
- Your microphone audio is streamed to OpenAI in real time. While you hold the talk button, your voice is sent directly to OpenAI so Professor Dux can hear and respond. OpenAI understands your speech, generates his reply, and produces his voice — all in one realtime session. Your audio is not transcribed on your device first; the audio stream goes directly to OpenAI.
- Camera images are sent to OpenAI on demand.When you ask about something you can see (“What is this?”), a still image from your camera is sent to OpenAI to answer your question. The live AR camera feed otherwise stays on your device and is not uploaded.
- Location is sent to our own servers — not to OpenAI.When you ask “Where am I?”, your location is sent to our backend to find nearby campus places. The resulting place description is then used in the conversation. Raw coordinates are not sent to OpenAI.
- Conversations are ephemeral. There is no account and no sign-up. We do not store your conversations, photos, or location.
Service providers
The data described above is processed by these providers on our behalf. They process it to fulfil your request and may retain it briefly for security and abuse-prevention as described in their own policies:

We do not sell your data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use any analytics or tracking SDKs.
Permissions we request
- Camera — to show the AR view and place Professor Dux in your room.
- Microphone — to stream your voice to OpenAI while you hold to talk.
- Location — to detect arrival at known places (e.g. campus buildings), even when the app is closed, and offer a contextual greeting; your location is sent to our own servers to find nearby campus places and is not sent to OpenAI.
You can change these anytime in iOS Settings → Prof Dux AR. Denying them disables the related feature but does not otherwise affect your privacy.
Children
Prof Dux AR does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app is rated suitable for general audiences.
Data retention & deletion
Because there is no account and we do not store your conversations, there is no personal data for us to retain or delete. If you have any question about your data, contact us below.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
